Life has meaning again for me. The mantra of the day most days is to live in the moment, but my philosophy is one of enjoying the moment while being excited about what the future holds. For me, having an Akron/Family concert on schedule for the near future is something that propels me through the doldrums of work. The El Rey is big step up for the psychedelic, freak folk indie rock band known as AK. If you have not been to one their epic performance I hope you will take an evening to experience a force of energy unlike any other.

God bless Golden Voice. MBV is doing a pre-coachella show (for those too busy/lazy/scared/not interested/-$ to attend Coach with the capt and I) this Thursday at El Rey. Apparently Throbbing Gristle is doing the same thing as MBV at the Ricardo Montalban, but I think one TG show a year is enough for me.

Capt and I are working on the tickets, but be sure to voice up if you are interested.

Sadly they do come out to $49 a piece with ticketmaster charges.

Bonnie Prince Billy is playing at the El Rey on Thursday 2 April

After much pressure from Bruce to totally bail on my own mother while she is visiting from Texas, I purchased tickets….Ticketmaster put the cap at 6. So, guess how many I got…..very good, this means there is only 4 open for grabs after Bruce and myself.

Times New Viking is opening, so I am not sure we will still be able to hear deerhunter after the Lo-Fi fuck down of TNV. I expect Bruce to fill you in more on the particulars of Deerhunter. All I really know is that the guitar has a side project known as the Atlas sound which is sweet brilliance and FYI on Monday Pitchfork gave Deerhunter’s new record a 9.2. Stunning!
