Not On Tour: Deerhoof Cancels Tour due to pigs flying
During a 4 hr meeting at work on Wednesday, I was secretly praying for a swine flu outbreak in the greater southern California area. allowing me to stay home for the rest of the week. While this dream did not come to fruition, there has been enough of an outbreak to derail one of the concerts I was most excited about year to date. As reported by Cornelius/Deerhoof’s myspace page, this pseudo art-meets-noise rock tour will not be venturing through the contaminated waste land of LA. *Tear. It appears that only Laura will be lucky enough to see Deerhoof before we all die from the pig flu.

lucky i was.
i think i’m a human h121 inoculator. went from a college campus post spring break, to Brooklyn-home-Manhattan-home the following week, then western Mass the next – standing next to someone returning to Maine in a hot crowd. while having rather annoying (and phlemy) upper respiratory symptoms since NY. but hey, i got to see Deerhoof, moby ambient, Psychic Ills & Spectrum, and Mogwai all within a very short period of time!
(Mogwai was great, btw. prepare for explosions.)

How was Moby? I’ve always wanted to see him live and have always wondered if he got the floor dancing or expanded minds with his universe expanding ambient…

hahaha. no ambient dancing. it was a quiet sit-down show. being so close to NYC, i’ve seen him in several incarnations, and, unless he’s dj-ing, he doesn’t seem to inspire much dancing. i like his music but he’s got the charisma of a dead worm. (sorry, mo.) it was a good show and worth the trip. (actually, it was his first ambient show!) but nothing earth shattering.
i shot some poor-ish quality video.
