Let us all shed a tear for Mr. Jeff Buckley. I love this song- and the album. Grace is one of those albums that I have listened to- 500 times- and it still evokes emotion in me just as powerfully (if not even a bit more) as it did the first time I had the glorious opportunity to listen to it. What that man was able to do with his guitar- and his voice- was simply amazing.

This was taken from the Jeff Buckley DVD and it’s the complete show at the Metro that night. I highly recommend it.

saw Mr. Buckley play the summer of 1994 when he put out his ep for Dream brother…gearing up for the Grace Tour…..it was at Gabe’s Oasis in Iowa City IA with my friend Anne….and there were literally 30-40 people there. Started the show with a 10 minute a Capella that was Arabic sounding meets Physical Graffitti era Zepplin….I had never heard him before…the guy i worked for at the record store told me i should not miss it and that I would certainly regret it the rest of my life. It proved to be one of the most incredible live performances, especially because I had been listening to his fathers records and they were far out shit like Star Sailor or Lorca….those records are intense…I was and still am transfixed by his music….

I listen to Jeff everyday. I miss him everyday. I also am transfixed. Don’t forget June 2nd, “Grace Around the World” is to be released…

    SIGH

Pick up the microphone, feel the cord
    Bend your head
Is it nerves inside that you’re listening to
Are you telling them to be still
    You breathe a sigh
Is it for me or you
I fall into it and you take me
To a place I had forgotten
    I follow where you lead
    And in the darkness
My aching heart starts to bleed
    For you
    It’s a broken Hallelujah
